Public servants are warning that public sector job losses in South Australia will also hurt the private sector.
On the eve of the state Budget, the Public Service Association (PSA) says it has received a report that a plan to cut 1,600 full-time jobs from the public sector will mean thousands more are lost in the private sector.
The report was done for the PSA by the Centre of Full Employment and Equity at Newcastle University.
Job cuts were outlined by the Treasurer in the mid-year Budget review.
PSA official Peter Christopher says he is worried that the Budget will have more job cuts for the public service.
"The PSA fears the Treasurer will cut more jobs. [He is] cutting agency budgets, making them do the dirty work of cutting services and jobs," he said.
